Despite the practice (and yes, we actually practice), despite our hard work, sweat and tears, I thought we'd finish out this hardcourt season without a first-place finish. But we finally put together a near-perfect tournament taking first place Sunday, March 25 out at a location that might as well have been Wyoming. My six other teammates and I pushed through to thrash a team that had always stripped us of our pride. Now it was their turn to leave the gym with low heads and one less envelope full of the first-place wad of cash.
My legs are still sore, but it was worth it.

Wow. Congratulations! I figured you and the team mates you play with were probably pretty good, but first place at a USA Volleyball tournament? Way cool. And prize money to boot.
