Where's the pepper??

Paul and I are moving into our condo these last 10 days. It's been quite a whirlwind! We left Des Moines, Iowa, Friday November 16 and arrived in Denver around 8 AM. It usually only takes 10 or 11 hours, but with a moving van so full of stuff that the movers almost couldn't close and latch the back - and a resulting coffee table, cooler and Rubbermaid container strapped to the top of the Ford Escape - we were going slower than normal. Sprinkle in some exhaustion and the oh-so-exciting drive through Nebraska in the dark, and we had to pull over for some much-needed catnaps.

When we arrived in Denver at 8 AM, we had to find a gas station with diesel for the Penske truck. Our plan was to head to my parents and get some rest before heading to the condo to unpack.

The best laid plans....

The movers called at 8 to say they were ready to unpack us, so after filling up at King Soopers at 38th and Sheridan, we headed to Arvada to meet the movers.

The photos here are the result. To the left is our kitchen in a state of disarray. My parents, brother and sister-in-law, and her dad, helped unload stuff from the Escape, and then joined us in a trek to Public Storage to cram boxes, furniture, and goodness-knows-what into a 10x10 space.

Unfortunately, we think that's where the pepper shaker went, as well as the left motorcycle mirror, a clip for Paul's desk light, and my cowboy boots - not to mention other useful items that we have since had to buy (such as a wireless doorbell). To the right is our master bath - what a beautiful bathtub, unfortunately being used as a depository for dirty laundry, extra hangers, and, now - a big box of sandals for which there is no room in the condo!

Guess what room this is? Ten bucks if you guessed it's the bedroom. Hard to tell at this point - where's the bed???

It's getting close to normal in there now - I can walk from the kitchen through the dining room, hall, and our bedroom without having to step over things or worry about causing an awful crash of fragile things!
Once things are in order and it's in a livable condition, I'll put up some photos so you can see that while I am messy and have lots of stuff, the above is not normal!

I watched an Oprah show this weekend (Unfortunately, I was forced to watch) about hoarders and your house reminds me of that show, however, I am sure your house will not be the same. When is the housewarming party?

Aaahhh, the challenges of moving and what to do with all the STUFF each has! So if you're master bath is full of sandals and dirty clothes, where do you guys cleanup - the kitchen sink?

I think I've seen that Oprah show on hoarding - it actually made me feel my messes were "normal" in comparison. Odd how so often humans look at others for validation of our "normalness!"

Oh, and there is a shower in the bathroom, that was thankfully kept clean!

The house is all put away now. We'll probably have a pizza party sometime after the first of the year - Paul makes pizza from scratch (including the dough), and you can choose your own toppings - yum!!
